Wiki Moment: General David Patraeus

Four star General David Petraeus was born in Cornwall on Hudson, NY. A small town of roughly 3,000 people, just 60 miles north of New York City.  He graduated from West Point, and then went on to get his Masters of Public Administration (M.P.A) and a PH.D in Internal Relations from Princeton. He helped Co-Author The US Army/Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Field Manual. He first saw combat in 2003 as a Major General (2 Star) in Iraq. After a promotion to Lieuntenant General (3 star) he became the first commander of the Multi-National Security Transition Command Iraq – issued with training, equipping, and mentoring Iraqs new security forces, including its army and police forces.  In spring of 2007 he was appointed the leader of the Multi-National Force Iraq, promoted to General (4 star) and put in charge of all US troops in Iraq. In Fall 2008 he relinquished command of the Iraq forces and became commander of US Central Command and supreme commander of the US armed forces.
